For those new to this site, I am not personally prophetic concerning the future. This is a semi-regular posting whereby I report on various newsy items which I find have some sort of trail or relevance of a prophetic, end-times nature.  It is important to stay well informed so that we can determine how close we are to important Scriptural Events.

Report:  Russia strikes Syrias Rebel Targets near Golan Heights for 1st time

Jerusalem Post  Oct 27, 2015

The Russian air force hit rebel positions in southern Syria, near the Golan Heights, for the first time since it began its air campaign against anti-Assad forces last month, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported on Tuesday.thX5AN1U8X

According to Fars, Russian fighter jets hit rebel positions in the countryside of Syria’s Daara governate.

The report added that the strikes targeted positions belonging to Islamic State and the Nusra Front, al-Qaida’s affiliate in Syria.

Fars quoted political observers as saying that “the Russian fighter jets’ attacks have an important message for Israel while Tel Aviv is trying to pretend that it has reached an agreement with Moscow on Syria’s Southern skies.”

A senior defense source said last month that the IDF and Russia set up a joint working group to coordinate their Syria-related activities in the aerial, naval, and electromagnetic arenas.

The source spoke soon after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot returned from a one-day visit to Moscow, following intensive meetings on Russia’s newly expanded military role in Syria.

According to foreign reports, the Israel Air Force has launched multiple air strikes in recent years to intercept Iranian and Syrian weapons that were on the way to Hezbollah storage facilities in Lebanon.

Israel has shared concerns with Russia that its interceptions could be compromised without military coordination.

Israel, Russia to coordinate in Air, Sea and Electromagnetic Arena

The Jersualem Post  Oct 27,2015

Russia to coordinate in air, sea and electromagnetic arena. The IDF and Russian military will set up a joint working group to coordinate their Syria-related activities in the aerial, naval, and electromagnetic arenas, a senior defense source said Monday. The source spoke soon after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot returned from a one-day visit to Moscow, following intensive meetings on Russia’s newly expanded military role in Syria.ShowImage

According to foreign reports, the Israel Air Force has launched multiple air strikes in recent years to intercept Iranian and Syrian weapons that were on the way to Hezbollah storage facilities in Lebanon.

Israel has shared concerns with Russia that it’s interceptions could be compromised if military coordination is not put into place soon.

In Russia, Eisenkot met with his Russian counterpart, General Valery Vasilevich Gerasimov – the first time chiefs of staff from Russia and Israel held a direct meeting in Moscow. Eisenkot also participated in part of the meeting held between Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Afterward, the two sides agreed to set up a joint working group led by the deputy chiefs of staff from each country. The first meeting will occur in two weeks, and the location will be decided in the coming days.

“It will coordinate air, naval, and the electromagnetic arenas,” the source said. The full composition of the working group has not yet been determined, he added.

“Everything will be raised there. The meetings in Russia were held in a good atmosphere,” the senior source said.

On September 10, a senior defense source said that an Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp force, comprised of hundreds of soldiers, recently entered Syria to assist the embattled Assad regime. In a coordinated Iranian-Russian maneuver, Russian logistics military forces began to arrive to Syria’s coastal region to set up a base for Russian fighter jets and combat helicopters.

Tehran dispatched its force “in light of Assad’s” ongoing distress, the source stated, adding that the deployment is part of a wider Russian-Iranian coordinated effort to prevent what remains of the Assad regime from collapsing.

According to Israeli assessments, the Assad regime currently controls 25 to 30 percent of Syria, consisting of Damascus and the Syrian coastline, where the regime’s minority Alawite support base is centered.

Throughout September, Russian military forces have been entering Syria to set up air strike capabilities aimed at protecting the Assad regime.

“I can’t see the Russian presence as changing the balance of power. It will apparently prolong the fighting. ISIS will never negotiate,” the source said. “Combat will continue in the coming year, along with the human tragedy in Syria.”

“The Russian interest is to save the regime, and its goal is to take part in combat against ISIS,” he said.

Islamic State is making gains in Palmyra, northeast of Damascus, and is now better positioned to mount an assault on Damascus, according to the source.

What’s going on with Real ID Act?

What is the Real ID Act, you ask?

Wikipedia states that: The REAL ID Act of 2005, Pub.L. 109–13, 119 Stat. 302, enacted May 11, 2005, was an Act of Congress that modified U.S. federal law pertaining to security, authentication, and issuance procedures standards for the state driver’s licenses and identification (ID) cards, as well as various immigration issues pertaining to terrorism.

th (6)

The law sets forth requirements for state driver’s licenses and ID cards to be accepted by the federal government for “official purposes”, as defined by the Secretary of Homeland Security. The Secretary of Homeland Security has currently defined “official purposes” as presenting state driver’s licenses and identification cards for boarding commercially operated airline flights and entering federal buildings and nuclear power plants, although the law gives the Secretary the unlimited authority to require a “federal identification” for any other purposes that the Secretary shall determine.[4]

The REAL ID Act implements the following:

  • Title II of the act establishes new federal standards for state-issued driver licenses and non-driver identification cards.
  • Changing visa limits for temporary workers, nurses, and Australian citizens.
  • Funding some reports and pilot projects related to border security.
  • Introducing rules covering “delivery bonds” (similar to bail bonds but for aliens who have been released pending hearings).
  • Updating and tightening the laws on application for asylum and deportation of aliens for terrorist activity.
  • Waiving laws that interfere with construction of physical barriers at the borders.

On December 20, 2013, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that implementation of Phase 1 would begin on January 20, 2014, which followed a yearlong period of “deferred enforcement”. There are four planned phases, three of which apply to areas that affect relatively few U.S. citizens—e.g., DHS headquarters, nuclear power plants, and restricted and semi-restricted federal facilities.[5] The timeline for Phase 4, which applies to boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft, will be determined after DHS conducts an evaluation of how the first three phases were implemented. To “ensure that the public has ample advanced [sic] notice”, DHS says that Phase 4 will not be implemented before January 1, 2016.[2] As of July 2015, 23 states or territories are compliant, 28 have been granted extensions, and five are noncompliant

So What’s the Problem?  In probably the only time I will agree with the ACLU I went to their website  REALNIGHTMARE.ORG and they have deep concerns about loss of your personal civil liberties.  Many states also view this as another infringement of Constitutionally granted States Rights and have postponed or outright refused, as yet, to get on board with this Federal Law:

About The Issue > Real Short: 7 problems with Real ID

What’s Wrong With Real ID

  • It’s a national identity system. The standardized national driver’s licenses created by Real ID would become a key part of a system of identity papers, databases, status and identity checks and access control points – an “internal passport” that will increasingly be used to track and control individuals’ movements and activities.
  • Will not be effective against terrorism. The fact is, identity-based security is not an effective way to stop terrorism. ID documents do not reveal anything about evil intent – and even if they did, determined terrorists will always be able to obtain fraudulent documents (either counterfeit or real documents bought from corrupt officials).
  • Will be a nightmare for state governments. Real ID requires state governments to remake their driver’s licenses, restructure many of their computer databases and other systems, create an extensive new document-storage system, and – perhaps most difficult of all – verify the “issuance, validity and completeness” of every document presented at DMVs. See Real Burdens.
  • Will mean higher fees, long lines, and bureaucratic nightmares for individuals. Because Congress ordered but did not pay for these mandates, which will cost states billions of dollars, fees on individuals applying for driver’s licenses will inevitably rise, perhaps steeply. Individuals are also likely to confront slower service, longer lines, and frequent bureaucratic snafus in obtaining these ID cards. Many unlucky individuals will find themselves caught in a bureaucratic nightmare as they run up against the complexities of this law.
  • Increased security and ID-theft risks. The creation of a single interlinked database as well as the requirement that each DMV store copies of every birth certificate and other documents presented to it will create a one-stop shop for identity thieves.
  • Will be exploited by the private sector to invade privacy. Real ID would make it easy for anybody in private industry to snap up the data on these IDs. Already, bars often swipe licenses to collect personal data on customers – but that will prove to be just the tip of the iceberg as every convenience store learns to grab that data and sell it to data companies for a dime.
  • Will expand over time. The Real ID database will inevitably, over time, become the repository for more and more data on individuals, and will be drawn on for an ever-wider set of purposes. Its standardized machine-readable interface will drive its integration into an ever-growing network of identity checks and access control points – each of which will create new data trails that will in turn be linked to that central database or its private-sector shadow equivalent.

Editorial Comment:

The ACLU has concerns, as do I, that this  law, which grew out of  the  9/11 terrorist acts, is greasing the skids for a full-blown National ID system…which paves the way for Government control of lives and livelihood later if you don’t believe, act, react the way they want you to.  Scripture tells us of a coming time when a number, the mark of the beast, will be required at all times to buy or sell.  Christians believe that this is a goose-step in that direction.

The group has recommended that members wear typical Halloween masks and use weapons such as bricks, bottles and firearms, ccording to the release.th8Y6SZUPB

The NYPD Intelligence Bureau is monitoring the threat, and there is no known link between the threat and New York City law enforcement specifically, the FBI said.

Christian Pastor In Germany Calls The Islamic Immigrants, “Predatory Hordes” Now The German Government Is Investigating Him And Wants To Put Him In Prison For Five Years

 October 26, 2015 By Theodore Shoebat  www.shoebat.com

(Shoebat.com is a site run by former Palestinian PLO member who came to know Jesus in 1994: Walid Shoebat and his sons. His site deals primarily with Christian persecution around the world and has very interesting Islamic insights into world events.)

A Christian pastor in Germany called the Islamic immigrants, “predatory hordes”, and now the German government wants him prosecuted and he could face up to five years in prison. This is just another example of the anti-Christian spirit that resonates the society as a result of ultra tolerance. Here is a video on the whole subject:

According to the report:

The pastor of the Evangelical Free Church in Riedlingen, southwest Germany, spoke of an “illegal, sometimes even violent invasion” and said that German Chancellor Angela Merkel wanted to control the population through “civil war-like conditions”.

The Stuttgarter Zeitung reports that the pastor – who has not been named – said: “Jesus has definitely not said that we should let our land be plundered by invading predatory hordes.”

The mayor of Riedlingen, Marcus Schafft, said the church did not speak for the local community. “This is a counterpoint, not reflecting my opinion, nor that of the citizens of Riedlingen.”

The pastor’s remarks were an “extreme position”, Mr Schafft said, adding that the local prosecutor must investigate their legality. However, the prosecutor said that the results of any investigation were not likely to be published until the New Year.

If an offence has been committed, the pastor could face up to five years in jail.

The Federation of Evangelical Free Churches also distanced itself from the pastor’s comments, with a spokesman stressing that the pastor is “not an ordained minister of the Free Churches.”

Earlier this month, a Spanish archbishop warned that the large influx of migrants currently sweeping Europe could be a “Trojan horse”. Cardinal Antonio Cañizares, Archbishop of Valencia, said: “This invasion of migrants: is it totally trustworthy? What will Europe be like in a few years, given when is happening now? You cannot play with history, nor with people’s identities.

China Responds to US Naval Incursion in South China Sea

A U.S. guided-missile destroyer sailed close to one of China’s man-made islands in the South China Sea on Tuesday, drawing an angry rebuke from Beijing, which said it had tracked and warned the ship and called in the U.S. ambassador to protest.

The USS Lassen’s patrol was the most significant U.S. challenge yet to the 12-nautical-mile territorial limits China claims around artificial islands it has built up in the Spratly archipelago as Beijing exercises its growing maritime power.

Washington’s move followed months of deliberation by the administration of President Barack Obama and could ratchet up tension in one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes and increase strains in U.S.-China relations.

A U.S. defense official said the Lassen also went within 12-mile limits of features in the disputed sea claimed by Vietnam and U.S. treaty ally, the Philippines. They said such “freedom-of-navigation” patrols were expected to become more frequent.

The U.S. destroyer sailed within 12 nautical miles of Subi Reef, an artificial island built up by China in the past year.

A Chinese guided-missile destroyer and a naval patrol ship shadowed and gave warnings to the U.S. warship “according to law”, China’s Defense Ministry said. It said the military would take necessary steps to protect the country’s security.

The U.S. patrol was a “coercive action that seeks to militarize the South China Sea region” and an “abuse” of freedom of navigation under international law, it added.

U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter on Tuesday confirmed the patrol. Carter, testifying to the Senate Armed Services Committee, initially would only say the U.S. Navy had conducted operations in the South China Sea. But under questioning from lawmakers, he confirmed that the USS Lassen had passed within 12 miles of a Chinese artificial island.

China’s Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Yesui summoned U.S. Ambassador Max Baucus, telling him that the patrol was “extremely irresponsible,” the Foreign Ministry said. It earlier said the USS Lassen “illegally” entered waters near islands and reefs in the Spratlys without the Chinese government’s permission.

“China will resolutely respond to any country’s deliberate provocations,” the ministry said in a statement that gave no details on precisely where the U.S. ship sailed.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang later told a daily briefing that if the United States continued to “create tensions in the region,” China might conclude it had to “increase and strengthen the building up of our relevant abilities”.

Lu did not elaborate, except to say he hoped it did not come to that, but his comments suggested China could further boost its military presence in the South China Sea.

The U.S. defense official said the Lassen was followed at a safe distance by a Chinese ship and no incidents were reported during the 72-mile passage.

“I would expect that this becomes a regular operation in the South China Sea,” the official said. “This type of operation shouldn’t be seen as provocative.”

The official said the Lassen had been followed for weeks by Chinese vessels before the patrol.

Subi and nearby Mischief Reef were submerged at high tide before China began a dredging project to turn them into islands in 2014.

Under the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, 12-nautical mile limits cannot be set around man-made islands built on previously submerged reefs.

Pentagon officials say the United States regularly conducts freedom-of-navigation operations around the world to challenge excessive maritime claims.

“We’re a global nation and we need to be able to operate where we’re legally allowed to operate,” said the U.S. official.

“That’s why you do these kind of missions.”

China traveled within 12 nautical miles of the U.S. controlled Aleutian Island about six weeks ago, the official said.

“Nations routinely come within those 12 nautical miles. If you couldn’t do innocent passage, it would make transiting by sea really cost-prohibitive and difficult,” the official said.

On Monday, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the United States had made clear to China the importance of free flow of commerce in the South China Sea.

The U.S. Navy last went within 12 miles of Chinese-claimed territory in the Spratlys in 2012.

China claims most of the South China Sea, through which more than $5 trillion of world trade passes every year. Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines and Taiwan have rival claims.

The Philippines, a vocal critic of China’s activities in the South China Sea, welcomed the U.S. action.

A range of security experts have said Washington’s freedom-of-navigation patrols would have to be regular to be effective, given Chinese ambitions to project power deep into maritime Southeast Asia and beyond.

“By using a guided-missile destroyer, rather than smaller vessels … they are sending a strong message,” said Ian Storey, of Singapore’s Institute of South East Asian Studies. “They have also said, significantly, that there will be more patrols – so it really now is up to China how it will respond.”

Some experts have said China would likely resist attempts to make such U.S. actions routine. China’s navy could for example try to block or attempt to surround U.S. vessels, risking an escalation.

Zhu Feng, executive director of the China Centre for Collaborative Studies of the South China Sea at Nanjing University, said he expected Beijing to limit its response as it ultimately did not want confrontation. “Both sides will be quite verbal but real actions, I hope, will show signs of exercising restraint,” Zhu said.

Washington worries that China has built up its outposts with the aim of extending its military reach in the South China Sea. China says they will have mainly civilian uses and undefined defense purposes.

The patrol was carried out just weeks before a series of Asia-Pacific summits that Obama and President Xi Jinping were expected to attend.

Xi surprised U.S. officials after a meeting with Obama in Washington last month by saying that China had “no intention to militarize” the islands.

Even before that, however, satellite photographs had shown the construction of three military-length airstrips by China in the Spratlys, including one each on Subi and Mischief reefs.

Some U.S. officials have said that the plan for patrols was aimed in part at testing Xi’s statement on militarization.
